AIBA Executive Committee is Complemented by Two Athletes’ Representatives from Europe at the EC Meeting in Budapest
17 February 2020On February 17, 2020, during the AIBA Executive Committee Meeting in Budapest, first permanent athlete representatives were confirmed for inclusion into the EC. Two quota positions will be filled by the Chair and Deputy-Chair of the AIBA Athletes Commission, which was established by AIBA last year. Oleksandr Khyzhniak of Ukraine and Irma Testa of Italy will now receive voting spots on the AIBA Executive Committee.
Franco Falcinelli, EUBC President, commented: “Congratulations to two European boxers, Oleksandr Khyzhniak of Ukraine and Irma Testa of Italy, on being elected to the AIBA Executive Committee as representatives of AIBA Athletes Commission. Sasha and Irma, your road to Tokyo 2020 as boxers is a clear priority! However, you should proudly accept and value this historic election outcome, as it shows how highly respected you are by fellow boxers worldwide. In this challenging period, they count on you to embrace this responsibility of representing the athlete community on the executive body of the International Boxing Association and contribute to the resolution of the issues within the organization.
It is great to have such a prominent representatives of men’s and women’s boxing with a vote and a voice on the EC!
