EUBC U22 European Boxing Championships SARDINIA 2020

September 25 – October 3, 2020

The end Olympic Games in Tokyo will mark the start of the next Olympic cycle and there is not a better way for national boxing teams to begin it, than to test their young elite! The 2020 joint (men and women) U22 Continental Boxing Championships will be staged in yet another amazing location – the ancient and flourishing town of Olbia in Sardinia, Italy. From September 25 to October 3, the competition will take place in the Geopalace, right on the northeast coast of Sardinia, famous for its sparkling sea life and elegant squares.

President Franco Falcinelli commented: “I would like to thank the National Federations for submitting strong bids and the EUBC Executive Committee Members for selecting the most deserving host cities for the 2020 Continental Championships! Despite the fact that most of the boxing community is focused on the preparations for the Olympic Games in Tokyo, EUBC, together with the LOCs, will be working very hard to set the best possible European boxing stage for female and male boxers of other age categories. It is great that National Federations like Montenegro are accepting the challenge of hosting a Championships for the first time, following the successful attempt of Georgia in 2019. I am also pleased that the NFs of Ireland and Italy have stepped forward and we are now observing a good geographical spread across the continent. As it has been the trend of the last years, I expect the participating numbers to grow and the quality of organization to improve further in 2020.“
