Letter on behalf of EUBC President in regards to the AIBA Congress
23 September 2020Dear Presidents and Secretaries General,
I am sure that you have already carefully read the letter sent by the AIBA Interim President, Dr. Mohamed Moustahsane.
I have already received a few phone calls that have expressed some perplexities about this unusual method of organizing an elective Congress. Unfortunately, as President Moustahsane correctly pointed out, the situation created by Covid-19 leaves no alternative. We all want to elect a new President to lead AIBA until the Ordinary Congress 2022.
I would like to reiterate that the election of the new President would show the IOC our firm determination for an urgent return of AIBA to the Olympic family.
We must exploit the advantages of the new technological means, because they are an excellent tool that will allow us to face unexpected restrictions such as the current pandemic, but also to save time and money to continue our valuable work for a new governance of sport.
With the certainty that the AIBA Congress will use the most advanced technologies to allow the best possible performance of the event in order to permit the participation of all eligible AIBA National Federations and have a qualitative discussion on congressional issues, I ask you to express your favorable feedback on the request of President Moustahsane.
Sincerely,
Franco Falcinelli
EUBC President
