Romania’s Dracula Open attracts over 300 boxers from 26 countries
27 February 2023The city of Arad in Romania will host more than 300 boxers when the Dracula Open international tournament starts next week, 21st February. The first edition of the competition was held in 2022 and was a remarkable success. It was organized in Brasov, where 285 junior and youth boxers, boys and girls, from 22 countries participated.
Traditionally strong in hosting international tournaments, the Romanian Boxing Federation started with the Golden Belt in 1972. The RBF has a very enthusiastic President, Vasile Citea, former champion of Romania and the experienced IBA Technical Delegate, Viorel Sima. Their combined efforts sets the stage for Dracula Open 2023 to be even more successful.
This year the competition will have more then 300 boxers from 26 countries, including France, Italy, Spain, Belgium, Azerbaijan, Ukraine, Armenia, Greece and Georgia. Also, the very powerful Uzbekistan team will add to the excitement and increase the action at the competition.
The Vice Mayor of Arad, Ilie Chesa and President of Romanian Boxing Federation Vasile Citea hosted a press conference, providing the registration numbers and other details. The competiton period will be 22nd to 27th February at the University Traian Vuia Sport Hall (2000 seating capacity), and will be carried out with 2 rings. The Supervisor of this competition will be Mr. Adam Kusior (Poland).
The Best Boxer in different categories will be selected, and these winners are set to receive an additional incentive of money prizes.
