The President of the European Boxing Confederation – Dr. Ioannis Filippatos, gave an extremely high assessment of the work of Bulgarian Boxing Federation. He arrived especially for the opening of the 74th edition of the International STRANDJA Tournament, calling it the strongest in the world at the moment.

“The tournament is extremely strong and at a very high level. It is currently the most successful tournament in the world. With the President of the Bulgarian Federation, Krasimir Ininski, we are very good partners and we cooperate at a high, European level, and the results speak for themselves about the work he does. I can boldly state that Bulgaria has always been an example for everyone, as an organizer of major tournaments. And to do something similar is extremely complicated. But when it comes to STRANDJA, we don’t have any hesitation or worry because we know what to expect,” said Dr. Filippatos.

He expressed confidence that Bulgaria has everything it needs to organize Olympic qualification next year, if it is needed. In addition, Dr. Filippatos praised the development of boxing in the country. “In the last 4 years, Bulgaria has shown great progress. You have medals, both men’s and women’s, at Olympic and World Championships. The progress of Bulgarian boxing is visible to everyone, and your competitors inspire respect among the opponents,” said the head of the European Confederation.

EUBC Secretary General, Ria Ramnarine added: “From my experience, Bulgaria is leading the way with the organization of high-level tournaments. Here, the participants have always been not only numerous, but also at a very high level, in terms of quality. 398 elite boxers from 38 countries across the five continents in one place for a tournament, that’s fantastic. We expect another flawless edition this year as well. Congratulations to the Bulgarian Federation for the organization, you are amazing.”
