After five days of top-notch boxing in Debrecen, Hungary, the 67th Bocskai Memorial Tournament came to an end, with 14 bouts on final day. The Hungarian Boxing Association once again showed their ability to organize competitions at a high level, even with an added challenge this year with 294 participants. The bouts took place over two sessions a day, in 3 rings. The EUBC Technical Delegate of this tournament was Ms. Anna Laukkanen from Finland.

The most successful national team among the women was Poland with three gold medals. Aneta Rygielska, Elzbieta Wojcik and Agata Kaczmarska, three very experienced boxers, became champions, while their two teammates Sandra Drabik and Natalia Kuczewska won silver medals. The Polish women’s team once again proved their quality, and had a great rehearsal before the traditionally strong Strandja tournament that will follow next week.

The Asian confederation’s Team Kazakhstan was the best among the men, with their six finalists dominating the men’s finals to win six gold medals. They are Temirats Zhussupov (48 kg), Serik Temirzhanov (57 kg), Samataly Toltayev (60 kg), Dulat Bekbauov (67 kg), Ayatulla Takizhanov (75 kg) and Aibek Oralbay (92 kg). The second best team was Ukraine with three gold and two silver medals.

Just like last year, the trophy for the best boxer went to Yuriy Zakhariev from Ukraine, the current IBA World champion in the light middleweight category.
