AIBA President visits APB Boxers’ Workshop in Almaty
17 September 2014The President of the International Boxing Association (AIBA) Dr Ching-Kuo Wu attended the AIBA Pro Boxing (APB) Orientation Workshop currently taking place at the AIBA Boxing Academy.
The boxers involved in the inaugural season of the revolutionary AIBA Pro Boxing (APB) arrived this week to the AIBA Boxing Academy in the Talgar region near Almaty, Kazakhstan, for an intensive 3-days workshop ahead of the start of the brand new competition.
The workshop was divided into several modules and covered various aspects of APB, from the competition rules and system, to commercial and media matters and many more.
During his visit Dr Ching-Kuo Wu addressed the APB boxers: “It is a great pleasure to be here with you, the best boxers of today. The APB is a top-class competition which will showcase the best features of pro boxing and you are all part of this new path of boxing. I am equally pleased that we have the possibility to host this important workshop in the AIBA Boxing Academy which is fully equipped with all necessary facilities to allow you to continue your physical preparation for the competition. I wish you a lot of luck and success and I am looking forward to seeing you in action in APB”
The APB boxers appreciated the opportunity given to them by AIBA to get together and learn in detail all aspects of the upcoming competition. The APB boxers were also really impressed by the AIBA Boxing Academy, and many underlined that it represents a real Olympic village specifically constructed for boxers. They all recognized that the AIBA Boxing Academy is an outstanding venue which provides all training facilities and perfect conditions for an excellent physical preparation.
The APB Boxers’ Workshop culminates on Wednesday 17 September when the Grand Opening of the AIBA Boxing Academy will be followed by the APB Official Draw, revealing the eagerly-awaited sequence of matches for the ten different weight categories.
