#APB Final 49 Kg – Both Wu Zhonglin and Bin LV look to clinch APB title glory at home in China
04 February 2015An all-Chinese AIBA Pro Boxing (APB) Inaugural Title Match headlines a great night of boxing in Lingnan Pearl, Foshan, as Light flyweights (49 kg) Wu Zhonglin and Bin LV rematch for the Championship belt in front of their home fans.
Their first match was a classic during week two of the competition, where 2012 AIBA Youth World Boxing Championships gold medalist Bin LV emerged victorious over National Champion Wu Zhonglin in an engaging battle.
2-1 Zhonglin will have to improve to win their rubber match, but he has already performed excellently so far in APB.
In week one he survived a knockdown to cause an upset victory over AIBA’s number two ranked light flyweight Patrick Lourenco, while in the Matches for Champions series he defeated the previously undefeated Ecuadorian Carlos Quipo to qualify for the title match.
The 3-0 undefeated Bin LV began his APB career beating the current AIBA World Champion, and APB number two seed Birzhan Zhakypov on points, and then followed up his victory over Zhonglin to secure a third win of the competition against Mark Anthony Barriga.
Zhonglin began their first match well, but tired towards the end of the bout, and he will have worked on his fitness to perform better in the title fight which is held over eight rounds.
Elsewhere on the card, Patrick Lourenco has struggled in APB with his lone victory coming via walkover, so he will be eager to impress against 2-1 Birzhan Zhakypov, while Carlos Quipo, who came close to being in the title match, fights Mark Anthony Barriga again after defeating him earlier on in the campaign.
Leandro Blanc (0 – 3) will compete in an exhibition match against Ariunbold Ganselem (MGL), who replaces David Ayrapetyan (RUS).
