Bulgaria’s Stanimira Petrova – I expect to perform well in the AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships

29 October 2018 News

Bulgaria’s Stanimira Petrova won the last two editions of the EUBC European Confederation Women’s Boxing Championships and she was named one of the favourites of the featherweight (57kg) at the AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships which will be held in New Delhi in November.

The Rio 2016 Olympian Stanimira Petrova, who switched from taekwondo to boxing only a few years ago, is in top form this year. She was AIBA Women’s World Champion in Jeju, South Korea four years ago and is unbeaten in 2018 therefore her expectations are high in the Indian capital.

“The preparation for the upcoming AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships is going well according to our plans. I feel good and I could avoid the injuries in the whole year therefore I feel myself strong before the event.

The key moments in my preparation are to be in good physical and healthy condition which helps me to keep my focus in the New Delhi event.

I did not stop my preparation since the beginning of the year and repeated the same program in the recent months. My average day is very simple starting with a breakfast, after a workout in the gym, lunch, a short relaxation before my second training session of the day, dinner and sleeping.

We are currently in a training camp with the national team of Bulgaria but we did not finalize our preparation yet. The whole Bulgarian team including me will be joining to the international training camp which will be taking place in New Delhi, India from the beginning of November. The Indian training camp will support us to acclimatize to the Indian environment, weather conditions and to feel the atmosphere of the venue.

I expect to perform well to show my best and to win my weight class in the AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships,” said Bulgaria’s Stanimira Petrova during her preparation to the important competition.
