Cuban Boxing Federation President appointed as AIBA Executive Committee member

The International Boxing Association (AIBA) is delighted to announce that Mr. Alberto Puig de la Barca, President of the Cuban Boxing Federation, has been appointed on December 5, 2013 as a new member of the AIBA Executive Committee.

He was appointed in replacement of Mr. Luiz Boselli due to his departure from the Brazilian Boxing Federation.

Mr. Puig’s role was pivotal in the discussions AIBA initiated in January this year with the highest National Sports Authorities which led a few months after to the birth of the World Series of Boxing (WSB) Franchise, Cuba Domadores. After only two weeks, the Team – composed of the 30 best boxers of the country – is already sitting on top of Group B with two matches and ten bouts won.

“I am very happy to appoint you as a member of the AIBA Executive Committee”, stated AIBA President, Dr Ching-Kuo Wu. “Your wide knowledge of the sport will greatly contribute to its further development both in Cuba and worldwide.”
