EUBC European Schoolboys Championships – Short Recap of the Competition
16 June 2014The 2003 EUBC European Schoolboys Championships were held in the Area Teleferica in Rome (Italy) from November 10 to November 15 2003. This was the 1st ever edition of this competition. 76 fighters competed in 13 weight divisions. Turkey was the most successful country with 6 gold, 1 silver and 2 bronze medals.
The second edition of the Tournament took place in Hungarian city of Siofok from June 29 to July 4 2004. 85 boxer fought in 16 weight divisions. Ukraine got before the rest of participants team thanks to 7 gold, 4 silver and 2 bronze medals.
Tver (Russia) was the host city of the Third edition, which took place from August 28 to September 4 2005. 87 Boxers competed in 16 weight Categories. Russian team got the top spot on the medals table with 14 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze medals.
The 2006 EUBC European Schoolboys Championships had their home in the city of Nikolayev, Ukraine. The competition lasted 7 days, from August 20 to August 26 2006. The event was participated by 94 athletes who competed in 16 weight categories. Russia got better of the rival teams, gaining 8 gold, 6 silver and 1 bronze medals.
The 2007 Tournament was held in Portsmouth (England) from September 3 to September 8. 82 fighters challenged for the medal in 16 Weight categories. The Russian line-up was the first one in the medal standings thanks to 15 medals (8 gold, 6 Silver, 1 Bronze).
The sixth edition took place from July 21 to July 26 2008 in Novi Sad (Serbia). 119 fighters competed in 16 weight divisions. Russia kept on ruling the competition. The Russian boxers got 12 gold and 3 silver medals.
Anapa(Russia) held the 2009 edition, which took place from September 29 to October 3. 141 Boxers fought for the podium in 18 weight Categories. Russian team dominated the medal standing due to 14 gold and 3 silver.
Yambol (Bulgaria) hosted the 8th EUBC European Shoolboys Boxing Championships fromJuly 20 to July 24 2010. 111 fighters challenged for the medal in 16 Weight categories. Russia was got the first place in the medal standings thanks to 15 medals (9 gold, 3 Silver, 3 Bronze).
The 2011 Championships took place from July 11 to July 16 in Russian city of Grozny. 155 Boxers competed in 18 weight divisions. Russia got rid of the competitors winning 16 medals (11 gold, 4 silver and 1 bronze).
Russia hosted also The 2012 Tournament got its ringside in Anapa and took place from October 2 to October 6 2012. 178 Athletes were enrolled for this competition in 18 Weight Categories. The Russian ones ruled over the medal standings due to 14 gold 2 silver and 1 bronze medals.
The irish Capital City, Dublin, hosted the last edition of the competition, which was held at City West Hotel in Dublin from July 27 to August 4 2013. The Russian Team got 15 medals (9 gold, 3silver and 3 Bronze), getting rid of the rivals. Ukraine is the runners up thanks to 6 Gold, 5 Silver and 5 Bronze medals. The Irish Squad got into the third step of the podium having won 2 gold, 5 silver and 3 bronze medals.
