EUBC Euro Women’s Boxing Champs Bucharest 2014 – Official Poster

The EUBC European Women’s Boxing Championships 2014 are going to begin in  Bucharest. The 9th edition of this tournament will be held inside the Polyvalent Hall  from may 31st to june 7th. According to the final entries, 172 boxers, representing 31 european countries, are going to compete for the medals.

The Inaugural Women’s European Amateur Boxing Championships were held in Saint-Amand-les-Eaux, France from April 10 to 14, 2001.This competition was organised by the European governing body for amateur boxing, EUBS 78 fighters from 14 European countries competed in 11 weight classes. Russia dominated the competition, winning 6 gold medals; host country France were second in the medals table

The 2nd Women’s European Amateur Boxing Championships took place in Pécs  Hungary from May 11 to 17, 2003.This edition of the biennial competition was organised by the European governing body for amateur boxing, EUBC. Competitions took place in 13 weight classes, in which were split 96 boxers coming from 18 countries Russia were again top medal winners, but her dominance was much reduced since the 2001 Women’s European Amateur Boxing Championships.

Riccione, Italy, was the Host City of the  The 3rd Women’s European Amateur Boxing Championships which took place from October 3rd to 10th, 2004. The competition  was based on13 weight classes, in which competed 110 boxers from 21 countries Russia topped the medals table, as they had done in the two previous editions of these championships.

 

Tønsberg, Norway, held  from May The 4th Women’s European Amateur Boxing Championships  8th to 15, 2005. 120 boxers, representing 22 countries,  landed in the norwegian city for the competition. Russia topped the medals table, as they had done in the three previous editions of these championships. Cecilia Brækhus of Norway was voted best boxer of the tournament

The 5th Women’s European Amateur Boxing Championships were held in Warsaw, Poland from September 4th to 10th, 2006.  122 Boxers (13 weight classes), from 24 countries,  fought for the medals in this edition  Russia dominated the medals table, as they had done in the four previous editions of these championships.

Vejle, Denmark, hosted the 6th Women’s European Amateur Boxing Championships  from October 15th to 20th, 2007. Russia topped the medals table (as they had done in the five previous editions of these championships) winning 6 gold medals — no other country won more than 1. Nicola Adams became the first English woman to win a medal at a major international championship,while Ireland’s Katie Taylor won her division for the third successive time. 120 boxers, from 23 countries, went in Denmark for this edition of the tournament.

 

The 7th Women’s European Amateur Boxing Championships were held in Mykolaiv, Ukraine, from September 15th to 20th, 2009. This edition of the recurring competition was organised by the European governing body for amateur boxing, EUBC. 113 fighters representing 26 federations competed in 11 weight classes, the limits of which had changed since the previous edition of the championships. Russia topped the medals table (as they had done in the six previous editions of these championships), although host country Ukraine won more medals in total including 5 bronzes. Featherweight (57kg) victor Sofia Ochigava was voted Best Boxer of the tournament.

The 8th Women’s European Boxing Championships were hosted and organised by the Dutch Boxing Association in the Netherlands in 2011. The event was held in the ‘Topsportcentrum Rotterdam” in the Netherlands from 16 to 23 October 2011. It was the first time in the Dutch Boxing Association’s 100-year history that they hosted such an international event. 118 fighters representing 28 federations competed in 11 weight classes.

Russia dominated the Time-Table winning 4 gold, 2 silver and 1 bronze medals.
