Dear boxing friends, distinguished guests, ladies and gentlemen,
On behalf of AIBA President Dr. CK Wu and the EUBC that I am honored to chair, I welcome all of you in Samsun for this E.O.Q.T. for RIO.A special and heartfelt thanks to the President of the TBF Mr. Eyup Gozgec and to the LOC along with the valuable support of the Local and National Government authorities, hier represented by Minister of Youth &Sport Mr. Akif Kagatay Kilic, the Governor of Samsun Mr. Ibrahim Sahin and the Samsun Mayor , Mr Yousuf Zlya Yilmaz,
The T B F has a great tradition in our sport. In the past and recent time, important cities like Ankara, Antalia, Istanbul, Izmir have organized many Intern. boxing events, always appreciated for the nice hospitality, for the excellent management and competence and using sport for wider development on line with IOC target. President Thomas Bach recently said: Olympic Sport builds bridges and not walls between different social, political and religious culture. Olympic Sport is a vehicle of peace and brotherhood among all peoples.
With these moral and ideals values, our boxers, male and female, will fight on the Samsun’s ring to reconfirm the principles of loyalty, fair play and respect of the rules. Therefore, HeadsUp! not just a slogan, but like strong determination in the renewal process, started 10 years ago by President WU: put on our priority attention the boxer: his health, his sporting career, and his social future.
This Continental event represents an important step for the Olympic Qualification and also a valid test about the potential value of European boxers in view of the upcoming O. G. in Rio.
With the certainty that the fair and correct result will award the best boxer, I would like to wish all our athletes a sincere GOOD LUCK and a successful performance to our Coaches, Referees/Judges, ITOs and AIBA S. Mr. Angel Villareal, AIBA Staff and to all precious Volontiers.
