Dear Presidents,

2015 has been a very intense and productive year for the European Olympic Boxing. In all the main Competitions at both Continental and World levels, European boxers have shown their great technical and agonistic abilities, which confirms the high quality of Coaches and Trainers together with the managerial expertise of their National Federations. European boxers won a total of 16 medals (5 gold, 3 silver and 8 bronze) at the 2015 AIBA World Championships in Doha. Meanwhile at the World Junior Championships in Saint Petersburg, Junior boxers, representing the future of the Continental Boxing won 8 gold medals, 6 silver and 12 bronze medals. The young women boxers won 11 gold, 12 silver and 23 bronze medals at the World Women’s Junior and Youth Championships in Taipei earlier in 2015. This excellent results show a qualitative grow of Women boxing in Europe.

At the Continental level, the European Junior Championships in Lviv (Ukraine), considering the absence of one the most important European boxing Nation – Russia, in total 22 nations reached the podium. At the European Women’s Youth and Junior Championships in Keszthely (Hungary) 20 countries won medals, meanwhile at the European Schoolboys Championships in Anapa (Russia); 19 nations achieved medals and 17 nations at the European Youth Championships in Kolobrzeg (Poland) respectfully.

These results prove European boxer’s high qualitative standard as well as a greater number of countries reaching the podium, showing an even playing field and that medals are not solely concentrated in nations with a historically strong boxing tradition.

I would also like to reiterate the huge work done by the Local Organizing Committees and National Federations in order to always do their best to make our events entertaining and deliver comprehensive organization and management.

The top of the managerial effectiveness was in Baku in occasion of the 1st edition of the European Games, while Samokov, Kolobrzeg, Lviv, Anapa and Keszthely also provided a reconfirmed imagine of goodwill and innovation, giving us hope for even better performances.

The 2016 is an Olympic year and the maximum attention will be given to Rio and to the qualifying events that AIBA has prepared in order to reach the 31st edition of the Olympic Games. Therefore, we are confident that Turkey, Bulgaria and Azerbaijan will capitalize upon their previous organizational experience in order to deliver their best for their respective Olympic Qualifying Events.

At the Continental level in 2016, the Youth Championships have been assigned to Latvia, Junior Championships assigned to Hungary, Schoolboys Championships assigned to Croatia, Women’s Youth and Junior Championships assigned to Turkey and Women’s Championships are in proceed to be assigned, consolidating the prestigious organizational system of European Boxing Confederation.

In closing, on behalf of the EUBC Executive Committee, I send my most cordial greetings for a 2016 and for it to be rich of great success for all.

Sincerely,

Franco Falcinelli EUBC President
