France’s Delphine Mancini eliminated a star rival in the Silesian Women’s Boxing Tournament

The Silesian Women’s Open Boxing Tournament started in Gliwice, Poland with its first competition day where 12 contests were in the opening official program. France’s Delphine Mancini defeated her top Ukrainian rival Tetiana Kob on Day1 and proved her strength in her new category in Gliwice.

The female elite, youth and junior boxers can attend in the 13th edition of the Silesian Women’s Boxing Tournament. The elite boxers from the flyweight (51kg), featherweight (57kg) and welterweight (69kg) were in action in the first competition day.

Boxers from the youngest age group are preparing to the EUBC European Confederation Junior Boxing Championships which will be held in Anapa, Russia next month. The elite female boxers are also focusing to a big target to the AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships which will be taking place in November.

France’s Delphine Mancini won several international competitions at the bantamweight (54kg) and claimed silver medal in the EUBC European Confederation Women’s Boxing Championships in Sofia. The experienced French boxer moved down to the flyweight (51kg) in the recent months and she was enough motivated to beat a top rival Ukraine’s Rio 2016 Olympian Tetiana Kob in Gliwice.

Russia’s Svetlana Soluianova was EUBC European Women’s Youth Champion in 2012 and after six years she reached the top of the European podium also in the elite age group as well. The Russian flyweight (51kg) boxer used her height advantage against Czech Republic’s Nela Freiherrova and controlled all of the rounds from long distance. The final verdict was unanimous decision to Soluianova who advanced to the next round of the Silesian Women’s Open Tournament.

Slovenia’s lone boxer in the Silesian Women’s Open Tournament Vida Rudolf attended in the last edition of the EUBC European Confederation Women’s Boxing Championships in Sofia. The Slovenian featherweight (57kg) boxer, who joined to the national team only one year ago, started with an aggressive tactic against Poland’s Patrycja Buczyniak and following her dominancy the referee confirmed her RSC success in the first round.

Czech Republic’s two-time EUBC European Confederation Women’s Boxing Championships bronze medallist Martina Schmoranzova is a veteran boxer who was involved to the national team in 2006. The Czech welterweight (69kg) boxer had a younger rival in the opening round of the Silesian Women’s Open Tournament and used her experiences to keep the best fighting distance against Kazakhstan’s Akerke Bakhytzhan.

Russia’s Rio 2016 Olympian Iaroslava Iakushina earned silver medal in the last edition of the EUBC European Confederation Junior Boxing Championships in Sofia following her decision to move down to the welterweight (69kg). The 25-year-old Russian boxer arrived to the Silesian Women’s Open Tournament as gold medal contender and impressed in her debuting bout against Poland’s Malwina Zmuda.

The Silesian Open Women’s Tournament will be continued with a longer program and altogether 35 bouts in the second competition day.
