France’s Billal Bennama – I am ready to represent my country in Tokyo
21 March 2020France’s Billal Bennama has qualified for the Tokyo Olympic Games following his successes at the men’s flyweight (52kg) in the European Olympic Boxing Qualifying Event. Bennama will be turning to 22 only later this year but he is one of the best boxers in his weight class in the European continent.
The French boxer joined to the international competitions in 2014 as a junior but he reached better results as a youth and U22 boxer. His career highlight is a bronze medal from the Yekaterinburg 2019 AIBA World Boxing Championships which guarantees that he could be France’s top weapon in the Olympic Games.
“I was satisfied with my performance in the European Olympic Boxing Qualifying Event in London but it was a very long preparation for this competition. We had many events and training camps in the recent one year to reach our peak performance in the Qualification Event.
There was not any strict strategy in my fight for the quota, I had to give in everything to that contest to beat my German opponent, Hamza Touba. I knew what I have to do against him, he is an experienced Olympian boxer.
Following the quota for the Tokyo Olympic Games, we have to start the immediate preparation to get good results in Japan. I am ready to represent my country in the Tokyo Olympic Games where I have only one target, the gold medal for France at the flyweight (52kg).
I am expecting a lot from the Tokyo Olympic Games where I can meet with top opponents and this highest level event was my goal since my childhood. My target is to win the most beautiful medal, the gold there,” summarized Billal Bennama his experiences and introduced his plans for the Tokyo Olympic Games.
