The bout of the day

Serbia’s new young talent Sead Ikanovic won the Serbian Schoolboys National Championships in 2019 and had experiences from all regional and national events of the recent years. The 15-year-old featherweight (57kg) boxer had to meet in the semi-finals of the category with his teammate Djordje Mijatov in Vrbas which was an important selection bout between them before the EUBC European Junior Boxing Championships. Ikanovic is spending his first year among the junior boxers but he proved smart tactic in Vrbas and defeated his local rival with excellent performance.

The round-up

Serbia’s Zoran Velimir is a young talent from the Sajkasi Boxing Club who competed already in the 2018 National Boxing League as a schoolboy. The 16-year-old talent moved up to the featherweight (57kg) in the recent two years following his native developments and his coaches hard work to put extra muscles to the young boxer. Velimir eliminated Serbia’s Vladimir Berisa in the first day of boxing and continue his winning path against Strahinja Mosorinski in the second session of the Junior Nations Cup.

United States sent a delegation to the Junior Nations Cup and in spite of their long travel to Serbia, their boxers impressed in the second day of boxing. Eliah Lugo had to do his very best against Serbia’s Stefan Krasnic but his technical skills decided their middleweight (75kg) contest in Vrbas. His brother Nathan Lugo landed several tough combinations therefore Serbia’s Nikola Bozovic and his ringside abandoned their heavyweight (+80kg) bout in Vrbas.
