The Boys In Green also finished second in the medals table behind Russia at the Black Sea holiday resort.

Irish team manager Paddy Gallagher said that they are looking forward to what he believes will be a competitive and exciting occasion in Dublin.

“It will be tough to beat the medal haul from Anapa, but we have a talented young squad and if they perform to their full potential they will do well, he said.

They are preparing very well for the tournament and they are eager to get the Championships underway.”
