Miskovic, Velimir and Djukanovic won their strong contests in the opening day of the Juniors Nations Cup
15 October 2020The first day of boxing was held at the Junior Nations Cup in Vrbas, Serbia which event has been re-scheduled twice. Serbia’s Vladica Miskovic impressed in the first competition day and defeated North Macedonia’s favourite Enis Aliu. Serbia’s experienced juniors as Zoran Velimir and Darko Djukanovic advanced to the next stage of the event.
Male boxers who were born in 2004 and in 2005 are eligible to attend at the Junior Nations Cup in Vrbas. The safety of all participants, the continuous medical checks, the social distancing, the hygienic preparations, wearing masks and all of the health controls are the responsibility of the local organizers in Serbia to avoid any new Covid-19 cases in the event.
The Junior Nations Cup is holding at the Drago Jovovic Sports Hall in Vrbas which event to be live streamed through their official website: www.bsv.org.rs. The Junior Nations Cup was launched in 2017 and it is a new international competition in the European boxing map to increase the number of the junior events.
The bout of the day
Serbia’s Zoran Velimir trains in the Sajkasi Boxing Club who was involved to the national events still in 2018 and after several tough battles he is now a skilled junior boxer. The 16-year-old talent competed at the 37kg category two and half years ago and now he competed at the junior featherweight (57kg). Velimir had to meet with Serbia’s Vladimir Berisa first in the Junior Nations Cup and he impressed in the event landing high number of punches. His opponent was also in good shape in their fight but finally Velimir’s hand was raised in their excellent contest.
The surprise of the day
North Macedonia began to develop its grassroots a few years ago when their former star boxer Mr. Primislav Dimovski became their President. Ardian Azemi won several junior international events in the recent two years and he is strengthening their youth team this year. North Macedonia’s bets junior hope Enis Aliu attended in the European Shadowboxing Challenge with success and he has done his very best in the first day of boxing at the Junior Nations Cup. Aliu received punches from Serbia’s Vladica Miskovic especially in the final minutes and suffered an unexpected loss in Vrbas.
The round-up
Darko Djukanovic is one of the most experienced Serbian junior boxers who attended in the 2018 edition of the Junior Nations Cup as well. The Petrograd Schoolboys Cup winner 16-year-old talent was too smart and quick for his fellow Damir Jajic in his debuting contest at the bantamweight (54kg) and won that challenge unanimously.
Serbia’s Grejtest Boxing Club talent Adam Krstovic competed in their National League and other junior events especially in 2019. The light middleweight (70kg) boxer had to face with North Macedonia’s Omer Murtezani in the first day of boxing and worked well to beat his neighbouring rival in Vrbas.
