Nanjing 2014 YOG countdown event "collects" smiles in Singapore to spread passion for upcoming Games

The second edition of the Youth Olympic Games (YOG) is set to take place in Nanjing, China, from August 16th until August 28th, 2014.
Boxing plays a key role in the YOG, where it is one of the marquee events in the competition.
A total of 60 Youth men and 18 Youth women boxers have qualified to participate in the prestigious Games, and they all qualified via April’s AIBA Youth World Championships in Sofia, Bulgaria.
The men will take part in ten weight classes, ranging from Light Flyweight (46kg-49kg) to Super Heavyweight (91+kg), while for the first time in boxing history, the upcoming YOG will welcome the debut of the Youth Women’s Boxing in the Olympic Games in three Olympic Categories – 51, 60 and 75 kg.
As part of a series of events to promote the Nanjing 2014 Youth Olympic Games, the “Young Smiles from the World” campaign was held in Singapore on June 14th and 15th.
Singapore was the first city to host the Youth Olympic Games, and that fact made this series of promotional events even more meaningful.
The YOG incorporates customs and traditions from all over the world to give the world’s youth a chance to learn about each other through sharing and cultural exchanges.
Beloved mascot Nanjing LeLe interacted with people at the event, posing for pictures and dancing the “1, 2, 3 YOG!”, which created smiles and enthusiasm to help spread the passion of the Nanjing YOG to every corner of the world.
This passion in turn will bring to Nanjing boxing fans from across the globe, and as a universal sport, boxing is a perfect fit for the community and the ethos of the YOG.
