New WSB Season VI franchises, Türkiye Conquerors and Uzbek Tigers reveal their logos
12 January 2016The news about the two franchises joining the Season VI of WSB was welcomed with great excitement last year. The Türkiye Conquerors and the Uzbek Tigers will be part of the new season trying to chase the glory from the last winner, the Astana Arlans Kazakhstan, crowned for the second time in 2015.
Türkiye Conquerors
It was only natural that the new logo of the Turkish franchise reflected the country’s rich cultural history. The date 1453 marks the rise of the Ottoman Empire and with it a time of prosperity and proud Turkish Warriors. The team is confident of their capabilities in WSB and it reflects in their name “Conquerors” as they want to leave their print in the WSB Competition among the best teams in the world.
“We are very pleased to be returning to WSB [the team was involved in Seasons I and II under the name of Istanbulls and Istanbul Bospherous respectively], it is a great competition created by AIBA President Dr Ching-Kuo Wu and led by WSB CEO Karim Bouzidi and we will do our best to make a valuable contribution to the next season of WSB.”, said Bayram Altug, Turkish Boxing Federation Executive.
“Next year is an Olympic year and WSB will provide us a great chance to prepare in the best way possible and to get our boxers fit. This gives us a chance to compete against the greats of world boxing like Cuba and China and it will provide an incredible experience for Turkey boxing fans and for Turkish boxers.”
Uzbek Tigers
Newcomers on the WSB landscape, Uzbekistan is already a contender to watch with 6 medallists from the last World Boxing Championships, held in Doha in 2015. The tiger in the logo symbolises the strength and power of this young but promising team.
“There will be boxers who have previous experience competing in WSB – Hasanboy Dusmatov and Hurshid Nomatov – and a whole list of new prospects who will want to test their skills in WSB and showcase their sportsmanship in the ring. Uzbekistan has a long boxing tradition and we have a multitude of excellent boxers, who have vast experience and technical skills”, said Sherzod Tashmatov, 1st Vice President of the Uzbekistan Boxing Federation.
The new season of WSB vows to be one of the greatest ever seen. Will these new teams be part of the final stage of the competition? Watch season VI starting January 15 to see which teams will make it to the play-offs phase.
