Who’s Vasile Citea?

Vasile Citea (53 years old) is a new Member of Romanian Parliament. His party won the election in Romania and he will be part of the new Government of the Country.
Vasile Citea was an amateur boxer between 1978 and 1990. He was a Member of National Team of Romania and he won many international tournaments. He was never national amateur Champion of Romania because was defeated by the great champion Francisc Vastag.

In 1990, Vasile Citea turned pro and had a short (1990-1993) but good professional boxing carrier. He was the first professional Champion of România in 69 kg. He fought against Javier Castillejo, former WBA World middleweight Champion, in Spain and he forced Castillejo to hear the counting of the referee.

It was first KD of former World Champion. Citea finished the pro carrier with 16 wins and 2 defeats.
He graduate at the National Sport Institute and he starts becoming coach. Then he became referee and was the Best R&J of European Championships – Plovdiv 2006.

As owner of Club Gladiatorul Iasi and the organizer of Moldavian Belt (a traditional Tournament in România), in 2004, Citea was elected in Federal Bureau of Romanian Boxing Federation. 4 years later he was elected Vice President of Romanian Boxing Federation. In 2014, Vasile Citea took the ITO certificate in Assisi.
In January 2016, Citea was elected President of Romanian Boxing Federation. In July 2016, he organized The Golden Belt International Tournament in Iasi.
Vasile Citea was involved in politics since 1995, as Member of Social Democrat Party. Since 2000 till 2016 he was advisor of City Hall of Iasi. In 2013-2015 he was personal advisor of Ministry of Youth and Sport. He has two Masters, one in sport in 2002 in ” Sport Management and one in “Public Administration” in 2007.
He is married and he has two children.
