Provisional Suspension of Swedish Officials

The International Boxing Association (AIBA) was reported that on January 18, 2014, an AIBA Open Boxing (AOB) bout was held in a South Swedish competition in which a Youth woman boxer was matched against a 33-year old Elite woman opponent. The Youth boxer was knocked out in the first round.
Allowing a Youth boxer to compete against an Elite boxer in a competition is a violation of Rule 1.1 of the AOB Competition Rules (Classification of Boxers). The Swedish Boxing Federation has identified the following individuals as having had a significant role in the incident:
– Mr Lehel Ilyes (Supervisor and Coach to the Youth Boxer – not allowed)
– Mr Per Engström (R&J Evaluator)
– Mr Leif Nilsson (Coach to the Elite Boxer)
– Mr Mika Moisio (R&J)
The AIBA Executive Committee decided on March 28, 2014 to provisionally suspend all officials identified above with immediate effect from all boxing activities at the national, continental and international levels and to refer this matter to the AIBA Disciplinary Commission for review.
