Record-breaking thirty nations have registered to participate in the 17th Silesian Women’s Open Tournament

One of the next international preparation events, the 17th edition of the Silesian Women’s Open Tournament will be held in Gliwice, Poland on September 4-11. The new 17th edition will recognize record number of boxers and countries in Gliwice which is Poland’s main international competition in 2022.

Altogether 30 countries sent their delegation lists to the local organising committee of the Silesian Open Tournament. More than 230 boxers have registered to participate in the Silesian Women’s Open Tournament in the elite, youth and junior age groups.

Afghanistan, Australia, Azerbaijan, Chile, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Gambia, Germany, Ghana, Guinea, Hungary, India, Italy, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Netherlands, Nigeria, Norway, host Poland, Senegal, Serbia, Sierra Leone, Sweden, Switzerland, Tunisia, and Ukraine have registered to compete in Gliwice.

The upcoming 17th edition of the Silesian Open will be preparation events for the upcoming IBA Youth World Boxing Championships, EUBC European Women’s Elite Boxing Championships, ASBC Asian Elite Boxing Championships and the EUBC European Junior Boxing Championships.

The competition will be held for the women’s elite, youth and junior boxers in Gliwice. The Event Director Mr. Henryk Wilk is the engine of the Silesian Women’s Open Tournament who launched the competition to develop female boxing in Poland and in the entire European continent.

The first edition of the Silesian Women’s Open Boxing Tournament was held in 2006 with the participation of a few neighbouring countries such as the Czech Republic, Ukraine and Poland. The level of the competition was uprising in the recent years step by steps and the first non-European countries are joined the women’s international event in 2013.

The last 16th edition of the Silesian Women’s Open Tournament delivered fantastic finals in Gliwice, Poland in September 2021. Greece, Cyprus, host Poland, Germany, Slovakia, Norway, and the Czech Republic won the youth and junior gold medals in Gliwice. Norway, France, Poland, Russia, Serbia and Germany were the nations which bagged gold medals among the elite boxers.
