Romero vs Kyslytsyn expected to entertain in pivotal Light Welterweight clash26 July 2015
Two AIBA Pro Boxing (APB) Cycle I Round 2 Light Welterweight (64 kg) matches will take place in Mexico City, Mexico on Sunday night, which fans can watch live and free from 17:20 (GMT -5) at https://www.youtube.com/user/AIBAproboxingTV.
Romero memorably entered the ring while wearing a traditional sombrero during his last bout with Chabane Fehim (FRA), and his fluid combination punching eventually led to a deserved victory.
The Mexican became the WSB Season II Individual Champion after a series of impressive performances, and he seems to have transferred that excellent record into APB.
Speed and desire are traditional hallmarks of boxers from Mexico, which are two attributes Romero enjoys in aplomb.
“The win against Chabane in Round 1 gave me a lot of confidence, but the best thing is that I worked hard in the gym for this fight. To fight in Mexico in front of a home crowd is very good, and to hear the fans cheer me on is an extra bonus. Kyslytsyn is a very strong opponent, and we need to handle the middle distance,” said Romero at the weigh-in.
Kyslytsyn represents a difficult challenge for Romero as the 28-year-old Ukrainian is an extremely resilient and experienced competitor.
The 2010 EUBC European Cup gold medalist has yet to find his best form in this competition, but he has been training hard ahead of this key clash which will see the winner will move up the all-important APB rankings.
A second Light Welterweight match will also feature in Mexico, where Livan Marcel Navarro Cupelian (CUB) will become the second Cuban to feature in this competition when he battles Chabane Fehim (FRA).
The 24-year-old has performed well at domestic and international tournaments over the past year, and has developed an entertaining style under the tutelage of Head Coach Rolando Acebal.
Following the success of teammate Arisnoidys Despaigne, he will be keen to keep the undefeated record of his proud boxing nation alive in APB, but needs to defeat the talented Fehim in order to do.
