Russia’s AIBA World Champion Gleb Bakshi registered to the 2nd Zagreb Grand Prix

Next to the Boxam Tournament, another strong European international event the 2nd Zagreb Grand Prix will be taking place in the Croatian capital on October 7-11. Russia’s defending AIBA World Champion at the middleweight (75kg) Gleb Bakshi has registered to attend in the upcoming Zagreb Grand Prix as the top star of the event.

Gleb Bakshi proved also strong performance in the first preliminary round of the European Olympic Boxing Qualifying Event in London where he has strong chance to get the ticket for the Tokyo Olympic Games. One of his powerful teammates, EUBC European Boxing Championships silver medallist Gabil Mamedov also registered to take part in Zagreb. 

Croatia’s best hope, European Games bronze medallist Marko Milun has got strong chances to win the super heavyweight (+91kg) in Zagreb but Bahrain’s Denys Latypov, Russia’s National Champion Ivan Veriasov and his fellow Luka Pratljacic could be tough opponents in the strong category. The next generation of the Croatian boxers such as AIBA Women’s Youth World Boxing Championships silver medallist Nikolina Cacic, Gabrijel Veocic and Noa Jezek all can prove their developments in the Zagreb Grand Prix.

Among the boxing powers Russia, Ukraine, France, Italy, Kazakhstan, Sweden, Poland and host Croatia are all planning to send strong delegations to the event. Kazakhstan, DR Congo, Chile and Bahrain are the four countries which are planning to attend in the Zagreb Grand Prix from out of the European continent. DR Congo and Chile have got European-based boxers and their participation is easier in the event. 

The 2nd Zagreb Grand Prix will be a money prize competition once again after the first edition which took place in 2019. The gold, the silver and bronze medallists will be awarded also cash in euros after the day of the finals.  

All of the expenses related to accommodation, meals and local transportation are the responsibility of the Local Croatian Organizing Committee. The safety of all participants, the continuous medical checks, the social distancing, the hygienic preparations, wearing masks and all of the controls are the responsibility of the local organizers in Croatia.
