Sixteen exciting semi-finals guaranteed top boxing at the Yukov Prizes Youth Tournament

The semi-finals where held in the third competition day at the Yukov Prizes Youth Tournament in Gomel, Belarus. Sixteen contests were scheduled in the official program of the event on Day3 which delivered tough fights between the Uzbek, Ukrainian and Belarusian youngsters.

The Yukov Prizes Youth Tournament is the first big preparation event for the upcoming EUBC European Youth Boxing Championships which is scheduled to be held in Budva, Montenegro from April 23. The Bornemissza Memorial Tournament, the Danas Pozniakas Tournament and the Emil Jechev Memorial Tournament will be the next highlights for the youth boxers in the European continent on March.

The Belarusian Boxing Federation has got several international events every year and their opening competition is the Yukov Prizes Youth Tournament. Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan joined to the event from the Asian continent and both top nations strengthen the annual Yukov Prizes Youth Tournament.

Bout of the day

Uzbekistan’s Shokhjakhon Abdullaev claimed gold at the Ulaanbaatar 2019 ASBC Asian Youth Boxing Championships and the light heavyweight (81kg) boxer is still youth in 2020. The Uzbek boxer is famous of his powerful jabs which he landed several times in the first round of the semi-final when he met with Ukraine’s Mikita Gorbatenko who earned bronze in the 2019 EUBC European Junior Boxing Championships. Abdullaev had a competitive rival in this impressive semi-final but he managed to win the bout with his efficiency and will be facing for the gold medal with Ukraine’s Mikita Khripko.

Surprise of the day

Ukraine’s another top youth boxer Oleg Lahuta claimed gold medal at the 2016 EUBC European Schoolboys Boxing Championships and achieved several further top results as junior. He moved up to the lightweight (60kg) in the recent months and dominated his quarter-final over Belarus’ Maksim Govorov on Day2. The 18-year-old Ukrainian was not able to keep that level in the semi-finals against Belarus’ Vitali Starinski and suffered an unexpected loss in Gomel.

The Round-up

Ukraine’s Roman Litvinov claimed bronze medal in the EUBC European Confederation Junior Boxing Championships last May and joined to the youth age group this January. The 16-year-old boxer is one of the most experienced hopes in their current youth team who had already more than 100 contests. Litvinov began his semi-final with great combinations against Belarus’ Uladzislau Smolouski and he kept his level until the end of the final gong. Ukraine’s top youth boxer will be meeting for the gold medal with Uzbekistan’s Fayzullo Khudoyberdiyev who eliminated Belarus’ Yuriy Golovatiy.

Belarus’ Aliaksandr Lavrushchyk competed already continental events but his success over who EUBC European Youth Boxing Championships bronze medallist Kiryl Levankou was a surprise on Day1. Lavrushchyk’s bowed out his teammate Raman Ziazulchyk in the second competition day and he continued his winning path in the semi-finals of the bantamweight (56kg). The 16-year-old Belarusian was slightly better than Kazakhstan’s Almaz Duisenkul and will be facing with Russia’s Yaroslav Psenichniy in the final.

Belarus’ Yan Krukouski joined to the international tournaments as a junior in 2017 and won also a few national events in the recent years. He attended in the Anapa 2018 EUBC European Junior Boxing Championships but he proved strong developments in the current Yukov Prizes Youth Tournament. The 17-year-old Belarusian light welterweight (64kg) boxer eliminated Ukraine’s Danil Lozan on Day2 and continued his winning path against Uzbekistan’s Umid Kadamboyev in the last four which means he can fight for the title with Belarus’ Daniil Krivich.

Uzbekistan’s Login Petrov won the Fujairah 2019 ASBC Asian Junior Boxing Championships and the Navoy-based middleweight (75kg) boxer can prepares to his next final following his success over Belarus’ Andrei Masalov. The 16-year-old Uzbek will be facing with his teammate Nurislom Ismoilov who achieved gold at the Puerto Princesa 2017 ASBC Asian Junior Boxing Championships and silver at the Ulaanbaatar 2019 ASBC Asian Youth Boxing Championships. Their upcoming strong battle is one of the most anticipated fights in the Yukov Prizes Youth Tournament.
