The 16th Danas Pozniakas Youth Tournament will be held in 15 weight categories in Vilnius next month

The Lithuanian Boxing Federation’s first international event in 2021, the Danas Pozniakas Youth Tournament will be held in their capital city in Vilnius on March 9-14. The women and men talent can compete in fifteen different weight categories at the 16th edition of the Danas Pozniakas Youth Tournament.

The new edition of the Danas Pozniakas Youth Tournament is one of the preparation events for the upcoming AIBA Youth World Boxing Championships which will be held in Kielce, Poland on April 10-24. Boxers who were born in 2002 and in 2003 are eligible to attend in the new edition of the Danas Pozniakas Youth Tournament which age group will be official also at the AIBA event.

The competition was named after Lithuania’s national boxing hero Danas Pozniakas who claimed gold medal at the Mexico 1968 Olympic Games representing the Soviet Union and also crowned three-times in the history of the European Boxing Championships. During his long and successful career Lithuanian boxing icon Danas Pozniakas won 203 bouts out of his 217 total contests in the ’60s.

Ten male finals were held in the last 15th edition of the Danas Pozniakas Youth Tournament in Vilnius, Lithuania which took place on March 2020. The Ukrainian youth national team impressed with their seven gold medals in Vilnius but Czech Republic’s new star Erik Suchy also has done remarkable performance in the day of the finals beating a world class rival one year ago.

The safety of all participants, the continuous medical checks, the social distancing, the hygienic preparations, wearing masks and all of the health controls are the responsibility of the local organizers in Vilnius to avoid any new Covid-19 cases during the Danas Pozniakas Youth Tournament.
