The 70th edition of the Bornemissza Memorial Tournament was postponed until further notice due to the spread of the Coronavirus
26 February 2020The 70th edition of the Bornemissza Youth & Junior Memorial Tournament has been officially postponed due to the spread of the COVID-19 Coronavirus and to the strict quarantine policies of the Governments stated in the official letter of the Hungarian Boxing Association which sent through to all of the National Federations.
The planning date of the 70th Bornemissza Youth & Junior Memorial Tournament was March 2-8 in the city of Eger. The last 69th edition of the Bornemissza Tournament was a great success with the participation of more than 20 nations on June 2019. Altogether 17 nations registered to attend in the new 70th edition but the event is now officially postponed until further notice.
Hungary hosted the 64th Bocskai Memorial Tournament in Debrecen and their new event the Akos Toth Memorial Tournament in Koka in the recent weeks and both competitions were success in terms of organization and the quality of boxing.
Montenegro will be hosting the upcoming EUBC European Youth Boxing Championships in Budva from April 23 and the event should have been the preparation event for the continental tournament. The next events for the youth boxers in the European boxing calendar are the Danas Pozniakas Youth Tournament in Lithuania and the Emil Jechev Memorial Tournament in Bulgaria.
