The Chairman of the EUBC Medical Commission Dr. Ioannis Filippatos confirmed all of the Covid-19 tests were negative during the continental events in Budva and in Sofia
03 December 2020The European Boxing Confederation hosted two continental events in the recent three weeks with strict medical and safety measurements during the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic. More than 200 tests have done during the two continental events and all were Covid-19 negative according to the Chairman of the EUBC Medical Commission.
The EUBC Youth European Boxing Championships was hosted by Montenegro at the very first time and became a strong success for the boxers, the host country and all participants. The EUBC Junior European Boxing Championships took place in another professional environment, in Sofia, Bulgaria and finished with the 26 final contests yesterday.
The European Boxing Confederation’s medical and safety rules are very strict in the whole competition as it was followed in Montenegro. The safety of all participants, the continuous medical checks, the social distancing, the hygienic preparations, the strict mask wearing and all of the health measurements are controlled by the Chairman of the EUBC Medical Commission Dr. Ioannis Filippatos of Greece in both locations.
“I can confirm to the Boxing Family that we had 100% success in the EUBC Youth European Boxing Championships and in the EUBC Junior European Boxing Championships in the previous weeks. More than 300 people were there in both locations in Budva and in Sofia together with the boxers, coaches, officials, ITOs and referees & judges but all of them produced negative tests.
I have done 20 tests on a daily basis, one person from each country, and repeated the process in the same way with 20 other people in the next day. With this method I had full control on the participants and all of them followed the rules therefore we could avoid any new Covid-19 cases in the continental events,”summarized his work Dr. Ioannis Filippatos the Chairman of the European Boxing Confederation’s Medical Commission.
