The EUBC Ordinary Congress started with the welcome speeches, opening remarks and the presentation of the Candidates

The European Boxing Confederation’s most important meeting session, the EUBC Ordinary Congress opened in the city of Assisi, Italy with the official welcome speeches, the roll calls, Mr. Franco Falcinelli’s emotional opening remarks and the presentation of the Candidates for the EUBC Presidency.

The Mayor of Assisi Mrs. Stefania Proietti, and the Umbria Region President Ms. Donatella Tesei started the whole meeting in the Hotel Cenacolo. The President of the Italian Boxing Federation President Mr. Flavio D’Ambrosi underlined the importance of the Olympic Games and he had a special greeting to EUBC President Mr. Franco Falcinelli.

The President of the Italian National Olympic Committee Mr. Giovanni Malago welcomed all of the participants on video and finished his speech “Viva La Box”. The Regional NOC President Gen. Domenico Ignozza, the ASOIF President and IOC member Mr. Francesco Ricci Bitti and the Secretary General of the International Boxing Association Mr. Istvan Kovacs continued the meeting session with their exceptional speeches.

The official Roll call of the EUBC Ordinary Congress confirmed that 47 countries are attending in the important meeting. Albania, Armenia, Austria, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Belgium, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, England, Estonia, Finland, France, Georgia, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Kosovo, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, North Macedonia, Malta, Moldova, Monaco, Montenegro, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Romania, Russia, Scotland, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Turkey, Ukraine and Wales were the participating nations.

Following the appointment of the scrutineers, the next step of the EUBC Ordinary Congress was the Opening remarks by the EUBC President Mr. Franco Falcinelli. He was grateful to speeches of the special guests, and summarized his boxing experiences in the recent decades. He thanked to all of the officials for their hard work in the EUBC Championships, the presence of the National Federations, boxers and coaches. His speech was so emotional in the morning session of the Congress when he mentioned the support of his family.

Following the approval of the Minutes of EUBC Congress which took place on February 27, 2022 and the approval of the Financial report, the next part of the event was the Presentation of Candidates for the EUBC Presidency. Each Candidate had 10 minutes presentation about their programs, manifesto and future plans how to lead the organization.

Mr. Boris Van der Vorst mentioned in his speech the issues of the sport and promised a new era for boxing which could be fair, sustainable and united, with sport integrity, and competition integrity. Mr. Volodymyr Prodyvus of Ukraine underlined the bad situation in Ukraine and withdrawn from the EUBC Presidential elections.

Dr. Ioannis Filippatos of Greece introduced himself and he promised 24/7 work, to solve the problems, the integrity before the elections, the safety of boxing and several other important topics. After his experiences in the medical part of the sport, his heroes are the boxers, the coaches and the National Federations. He plans to work with a professional team, the smartest people together for one target. Involving to the clubs to the international competitions in a specific Champions League could be a benefit for Europe.
