The next top event, the Cologne Boxing World Cup will be held in November 1-6

The German Boxing Federation’s main international event, the Cologne Boxing World Cup will be held in November 1-6. Several of the top teams confirmed their participation in the upcoming Cologne Boxing World Cup.

The management of the German Boxing Federation moved their top international competition from Halle to Cologne in 2019. The Germans were able to host the Cologne Boxing World Cup in 2020 and in 2021 as well with strict Covid-19 measures.

The competition venue will be the Motorworld Köln as in the recent years which has a fantastic car collection and a perfect boxing hall. The 4-stars Maritim Hotel will be the accommodation place of the teams and the venue of the Sport Entries Check, Technical Meeting and the Official Draw.

The Cologne Boxing World Cup will be a preparation event for the main championships in 2023 including the World Boxing Championships and the European Games, Asian Games and other competitions.

Despite the fact, that the ASBC Asian Elite Boxing Championships will be held by the time of the Cologne Boxing World Cup, some of the top Asian teams, such as Kazakhstan and Mongolia will join the competition with world-class boxers.

The last edition of the Cologne Boxing World Cup was a three-days competition in March 2021. Germany’s 21-year-old Leonie Mueller caused an amazing surprise in the final of the welterweight (69kg) following her impressive success over the two-time AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships bronze medallist Nadine Apetz.

The following 15 nations attended in the 2021 Cologne Boxing World Cup: Belgium, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Brazil, Croatia, Denmark, France, host Germany, Hungary, IOC Refugee Team, Kazakhstan, Mali, Moldova, Netherlands, Norway and Romania. The number of the boxers were 92 in the Cologne Boxing World Cup including 29 women.
