The re-scheduled Tokyo Olympic Games will be starting on July 23 in 2021
30 March 2020Six days after the official postponement of the Tokyo Olympic Games, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) re-scheduled the event today. The new date of the Games of the XXXII Olympiad has been announced by the Japanese Government and the International Olympic Committee today. The Tokyo Olympic Games will be held from July 23 until August 8 in 2021 according to the statement of the IOC.
Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games has been postponed due to the Covid-19 Coronavirus situation following the outbreak spread in the whole world and affects now all of the continents and regions in the World. The International Olympic Committee and whole Boxing Family hope the situation will be cleared soon everywhere in the world.
The Tokyo 2020 President Mr. Yoshiro Mori, the Tokyo Governor Mr. Yuriko Koike and the Japanese Olympic and Paralympic Minister Mr. Seiko Hashimoto and the President of the International Olympic Committee Mr. Thomas Bach joined to the conference call today and decided the new date of the Olympic Games in 2021.
The African Olympic Boxing Qualifying Event and the Asian & Oceanian Olympic Boxing Qualifying Event have been already hold earlier while the European Olympic Boxing Qualifying Event has been suspended after the third competition day in London on March 16. Sixteen European boxers already qualified for the Tokyo Olympic Games while the event to be continued with its Day4 as soon as possible while the new date of the World Olympic Boxing Qualifying Event will be also decided later.
