The second day of the IBA Extraordinary Congress elected the President and the 10 new Independent Directors

Following the fifth competition day at the AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships, the second session of the IBA Extraordinary Election Congress took place in the Istanbul Wow Hotel today. Mr. Umar Kremlev has been re-elected as President of the International Boxing Association as the sole eligible Candidate for the position.

The President of the European Boxing Confederation Mr. Ioannis Filippatos of Greece and the Executive Director of EUBC Mr. Aleksandr Egorov both attended at the second day of the IBA Extraordinary Congress. The Honorary President of the European Boxing Confederation Mr. Franco Falcinelli have been invited to the Congress too.

Altogether 155 delegations attended in the second day of the IBA Extraordinary Election Congress in Istanbul. As the sole Candidate, Mr. Umar Kremlev’s Presentation contained the successes and efforts of the International Boxing Association. The Court of Arbitration for Sport was not able to decide Mr. Boris Van der Vorst’s request and the Congress elected the IBA President. According to the IBA Constitution Mr. Umar Kremlev was re-elected as President without voting procedures.

The re-elected President underlined the integrity, the new governmental culture, the importance of the Olympic Qualification System and some other important topics to continue the previously started job.

As the next part of the Congress, Mr. Didier Wicht, Ms. Stacha Balmat and Mr. Umar Akhtar were elected as the new members of the Audit Committee Election. Mr. Bernhard Welten of Switzerland and Mr. Francois Strydom of South Africa were the Scrutineers of the elections of the Independent Directors which was the next important step of the Congress.

Mr. Bertrand Mendouga of Cameroon and Mr. Felipe Martinez of Spain have withdrawn for the elections to the positions of the Independent Directors. During the Step No.1 of the elections Ms. Elise Seignolle of United States, Mrs. Pearl Dlamini of Eswatini, Ms. Kristy Harris of Australia, Mr. Volodymyr Prodyvus of Ukraine and Mr. Yousuf Ali Al-Kazim of Qatar have been elected as Independent Directors.

According to the rules and regulations, two further female Candidates were elected and Mrs. Zsuzsanna Toth of Hungary and Mrs. Marta Forcen Celaya of Spain received the majorities becoming member of the Directors. During Step 3 of the elections, Mr. Abdeljaoaud Belhaj of Morocco, Mr. Dian Gomes of Sri Lanka and Mr. Zhou Jinqiang of China received enough votes to join as Independent Directors.
