World Champions and Olympic medallists are among the entries of the upcoming Boxam Tournament
28 February 2021The Spanish Boxing Federation’s next event, the upcoming 35th edition of the Boxam Elite International Boxing Tournament will be held on March 1-7 short after the Strandja Memorial Tournament and before the Cologne Boxing World Cup. Several stars from India, Kazakhstan, Russia, United States of America, Spain, Ecuador, Puerto Rico, Panama, France and Italy will be delighting the Boxam Tournament in the upcoming days.
The Technical Delegate of the 35th Boxam Tournament is Mrs. Susanne Karrlander of Sweden who travelled from the Strandja Memorial from Bulgaria to associate her next competition. The President of the Spanish Boxing Federation, AIBA EC member Mr. Felipe Martinez and his team worked hard in the recent months to realize the next international competition in Spain during the Covid-19 pandemic.
The first edition of the Boxam Tournament was held in 1976 in Almeria and many of the Spanish cities hosted the competition in the recent more than four decades. The last 34th edition of the Boxam Elite International Boxing Tournament was cancelled due to the Covid-19 situation in April 2020. Following the decision of the Spanish Boxing Federation, the event was re-scheduled to October 5-11 in the same venue in Castellon de la Plana.
Altogether 25 women and 43 men boxers attended in the 34th edition of the Boxam Tournament in Castellon de la Plana in October 2020. The Spanish Olympian duo, Gabriel Escobar and José Quiles both won their weight classes in Castellon de la Plana but his teammates Gazimagomed Jalidov and Emmanuel Reyes were also excellent in the day of the finals. A promising young boxer, Ioan Croft, the Welsh teenager won the welterweight (69kg) in the Boxam Tournament.
The safety of all participants, the continuous medical checks, the social distancing, the hygienic preparations, wearing masks and all of the health controls are the responsibility of the local organizers in Castellon de la Plana to avoid any new Covid-19 cases during the Boxam Tournament.
