#WSBV – A Week 1 North vs South American derby as Argentina Condors battle USA Knockouts
16 January 2015The international flavour of World Series of Boxing (WSB) is perfectly embodied between a North American vs South American clash in Buenos Aires as the Stadium of Argentina Boxing Federations hosts Argentina Condors against USA Knockouts.
On Saturday 17th January, 23:00 (GMT -3) and fans across the world can watch the action free, live and on demand at AIBABoxingTV.com.
The Condors had a disappointing Season IV, failing to make it out of the group stage, and will be hoping their first fight of the fifth season is a successful one, with Light flyweight (49 kg) Junior Zarate facing American Nico Hernandez.
A former AIBA World Championships competitor, Zarate is fast and ferocious, while Hernandez is one of the youngest competitors in WSB, and won the American Golden Gloves national boxing championships aged just 17 in 2013.
At Bantamweight (56 kg), Elias Nahuel Gonzalez is a supreme talent, but he will have to be at his very best to defeat Francisco Martinez, who won the American WSB and World Championship Team Trial late last year.
Lucas Ivan Gimenez, one of South America’s best Light welterweights (64 kg) squares off against American Tyrek Irby who is ranked number one in America at his weight.
The professional boxing success of Carlos Monzon and Sergio Martinez has meant that the Middleweight (75 kg) division is held in high regard in Argentina, so Kevin Caceres will be feeling the pressure against America’s WSB veteran Anthony Campbell, who will want to help his Franchise better their quarter-final finish last season.
In the last fight in Argentina, the Heavyweights (91 kg) take to the ring, with Brian Suarez, who competed in WSB last season, fighting Josh Temple, who also impressed last season in the competition.
