#WSBV Day 4 – Argentina Condors narrowly miss out on first WSB win against Italia Thunder
10 February 2015After three losses in their opening World Series of Boxing (WSB) matches, Argentina Condors drew their fourth bout of the season against Italia Thunder, who have now only won one of their four outings this campaign.
The 2-2 draw will give Argentina a boost heading into the next series of matches, while Italy’s confidence will stutter after victory against Puerto Rico Hurricanes last week seemed to ignite their season.
Spurred on by excellent home support in San Luis, the Argentine Franchise won the first match at Flyweight (52 kg) as Italy’s Iuliano Gallo lost the first two rounds of his match against Cristian Alan Choque Chambi before having to pull out midway through the third frame due to injury.
After the second match at Lightweight (60 kg) between Brian Ivan Nunez and Fabio Introvaia did not have a winner due to a TD, Argentine Welterweight (69 kg) Alberto Ignacio Palmetta then picked up his second win of the season, with a wide points win over Olympic silver medalist Fred Evans.
The Thunder pulled back a win at Light heavyweight (81 kg) as Valentino Manfredonia went 2-0 in Season V with victory against debutant Juan Gabriel Rizzo Patrón to give them a chance of drawing going into the final match.
Italy managed to pull off the result, and break the hearts of the Argentine fans in the venue as Italian Super heavyweight (91+ kg) won his second disqualification victory of the campaign in a row against WSB veteran Leonardo Taborda.
Argentina Condors travel away to Caciques Venezuela next week still searching for their first win of the season, while Italia Thunder also compete away against Rafako Hussars Poland.
