Week 5 Group B Astana Arlans Kazakhstan vs Puerto Rico Hurricanes

Astana Arlans Kazakhstan once again proved themselves as the best Franchise in Group B of the World Series of Boxing (WSB), when the Season III Champions destroyed Puerto Rico Hurricanes 5-0 in Karaganda City.

The team from Kazakhstan have won all five of their fixtures this season, while the Hurricanes drop their second match of the campaign.

Home favourite Mardan Berikbayev opened the winning run for his Franchise at Light flyweight (49 kg) as he defeated 1-2 Puerto Rican Anthony Ortiz 49:46 across the board.

WSB veteran Bantamweight (56 kg) Meirbolat Toitov then won his second match of the season for Astana Arlans when he stopped Luis Ruis 27 seconds into round two of their bout.

The overall win for Kazakhstan was secured in fight three, as Light welterweight (64 kg) Samat Bashenov won every round against Jan Rivera.

Another early finish occurred at Middleweight (75 kg) when 2013 AIBA World Championships gold medalist Zhanibek Alimkhanuly secured his opening victory of Season V by stopping  Jeffrey Flaz Guillén in the very first round of their clash.

The finishes continued at Heavyweight (91 kg) where Vasiliy Levit enjoyed his third successive stoppage win in the last fight of the evening with a second round knockout win over Gabriel Richards.

Astana Arlans Kazakhstan aim for their sixth straight win next week at home to Argentina Condors, while Puerto Rico Hurricanes are away against Azerbaijan Baku Fires.
