China Dragons finally won their first match of Season V in the World Series of Boxing (WSB) with a dominant 4-1 home victory against Morocco Atlas Lions.

The victory ensures the Chinese Franchise have momentum going forward in the competition, while the Atlas Lions are now back down to earth after winning their prior two fixtures.

China’s successful evening began with a comfortable win for 2014 China Open Tournament silver medalist He Junjun who won his second match of the campaign with a wide points victory over Morocco’s 1-2 National Champion Zouhair El Bekkali.

Bantamweight (56 kg) Diao Jianhao continued his excellent for the Dragons when he won by split decision against Mohamed Hamout.

China’s overall win was confirmed at Light welterweight (64 kg) when debutant Jun Yang consigned Hamza El Barbari to his third defeat in a row by stopping his African opponent in round three.

2014 Asian Games quarter-finalist Zhou Di then won an entertaining Middleweight battle against Said Harnouf by the narrowest of margins.

The Atlas Lions picked up a consolation victory in the last match at Heavyweight (91 kg) with 2-0 Vitalijus Subacius defeating China’s Jin Guo on points.

China Dragons look for their second successive win next week away to Mexico Guerreros, while Morocco Atlas Lions host Algeria Desert Hawks in the first ever WSB African derby.
