#WSBV Day 6 – Azerbaijan Baku Fires attempt to avoid defeat against Puerto Rico Hurricanes

20 February 2015 News

OMR_6155Before the beginning of Season V of the World Series of Boxing (WSB) nobody would have expected Season IV runners-up Azerbaijan Baku Fires to be sitting below newcomers Puerto Rico Hurricanes in the Group B table, but that is exactly the case heading into week six of the competition.

Three defeats in five matches have left the Azeri Franchise reeling, while the Hurricanes are enjoying a superb start to WSB life.

This contest is a must win for the Baku Fires, and home advantage could prove crucial.

An imposing venue in the Guba Olympic Complex hosts this Group B match, where on Saturday 21st February fans across the world can watch the action free, live and on demand from 19:00 (GMT +4) at AIBABoxingTV.com.

The importance of getting off to a good start will not be lost on Azerbaijan’s 1-1 Elvin Mamishzada, who opens the action with a Flyweight (52 kg) bout against Puerto Rico’s top ranked and undefeated Jeyvier Cintrón Ocasio.

Puerto Rico’s powerhouse Ocasio knocked out Eduard Johan Bermúdez Salas in his last bout, who beat Mamishzada in Week 2 of the season.

Amidst the Azeri crisis, Albert Selimov has remained calm and the WSB Lightweight (60 kg) legend puts his 2-0 record on the line when he faces Puerto Rican debutant Angel Lopez.

Welterweight Parviz Baghirov is 1-0 this season for the Baku Fires, but faces an intense fight with 1-1 Nicklaus Flaz who tasted victory two weeks ago.

1-1 Soltan Migitinov stopped Poland’s Jordan Kuliński in his last bout, and the Light heavyweight (81 kg) hunts another early night against 0-2 Joseph Laboy.

One of the most anticipated fights of the entire WSB weekend is the Super heavyweight (91+ kg) bout in Guba between 1-1 Arslanbek Makhmudov and the devastatingly powerful Hurricane Cosme Henrique dos Santos Nascimento.
