1) Zagreb is going to organize the third most important Youth Boxing Event of 2014, after the Boxing Tournament of Nanjing 2014 YOG and AIBA World Youth Boxing championships held in Sofia in the last April. What do you expect from the European Youth Boxing Championships?

First of First of all I would like to thank EUBC and President Franco Falcinelli who gave us the opportunity to organize one of the major European Championships. We have the great honor and responsibility in Croatia to set up a big competition like that. After a long and hard boxing season season, this tournament will be the cherry on top. 240 boxers, from 41 countries in Europe, are going to land in Zagreb for that contest. we are sure that there will be excellent boxing matches to watch and that everybody will be satisfied by the upcoming European championships. Also, as far as  our results this year are concerned  (three vice-world Champions and two Olympic medals) we believe that our fellow citizens will have a lot of reasons for coming to the boxing venue and support our athletes.

2) Several of the best Youth European boxers will come in Croatia to fight for the medals. It will be an outstanding competition, won’t be?

We believe that this competition is going to be one of the best of this year. Ten long days of the tournament in which the high talented boxers from several countries will compete. We will host them, hoping that they’ll keep a good memory of Zagreb. Given that this is the first European Boxing Championship after 10 years in Croatia, we have strived to make ultimate championship! And we are confident that we will succeed.

3) The Croatian team is working hard to be ready for the contest. Two Croatian Athletes (Filipi 91 Kg Silver and Plantic 75 Kg Bronze) won two medals in the last Youth Olympic Games. What do you expect from your boxers?

A brand new Croatian Boxing offspring is ready to defend our flag all around the world. With Filipi and Plantic there is also Luka Prtenjača 69 kg, who together with them won silver at the World Championships in Sofia. Besides them, We have several skillfull young boxers and we hope that some will get the medals. A Croatian Boxers with a gold medal in Zagreb will be a great moment for our Country.

I would like to welcome all contestants and participants of this competition, and to let them know that they are welcome in Zagreb, which is a cultural and safe city in the heart of Europe. We will try to do everything for you. We’ll do our best to make you feel comfortable and satisfied. I wish you had a good trip to Croatia and fought your best inside the ring. See you in Zagreb!
