EUBC Executive Committee took place on March 16th, 2019, in Vladikavkaz18 March 2019
On March 16th the EUBC Executive Committee meeting took place at the Grand Hotel Aleksandrovski in Vladikavkaz, Russia. Many important issues were discussed, including the assignment of European Schoolboys & Schoolgirls Championships to National Boxing Federation of Georgia. This next event for young boxers will be held in the capital of Georgia, Tbilisi, in August. The other two candidate Federations were Bosnia & Herzegovina and Russia, that a few days before the vote declined its candidacy. Another topic was the assignment of European Women’s Championships and Spain, the possible next hosting Country, confirmed its interest to host the event, but requested additional time for the final decision, at least another two weeks. Otherwise, the Executive Committee will evaluate other possible candidates.
On the agenda was also the approval of two new EUBC Commissions: Communication & Marketing and Youth Commissions and the appointment and of the following EUBC Commissions’ Chairpersons:
- Coach Commission: Felipe Martinez (ESP)
- Referee & Judge Commission: Waldemar Mencel (AUT)
- Medical Commission: Ioannis Filippatos (GRE)
- Passion for Boxing Commission: Boris van der Vorst (NED)
- Marketing & Promotion Commission: Volodymyr Prodyvus (UKR)
- Women’s Commission: Susanne Karrlander (SWE)
- Youth Commission: Tatiana Kirienko (RUS)
- Competition Commission: Sumaid Khalidov (RUS) – already assigned in the previous EC Meeting
It should be noted the intervention of EUBC Vice President, Mr Umar Kremlev, appointed as coordinator of EUBC Commissions, who expressed the hope for a greater commitment by Chairperson and Members of Commissions, who need to produce projects and initiatives to be submitted to the Executive Committee.
Morover, the EC approved the new composition of the EUBC EC Bureau with the nomination of the following members. Eyup Gozgec (TUR), Suleyman Mikayilov (AZE), Bono Bosnjak (CRO), Nenad Borovcanin (SRB). The EC has also approved the nomination of Alberto Tappa as the EUBC Treasurer, Alessandro Oliverio as the EUBC Legal Counsel and Gian Marco Sandri as the EUBC Marketing, Promotion & Partnership Director.
Giorgio Brugnoli (ENG) asked clarification on European Boxing Academy. Executive Committee unanimously endorsed the positive role of this cultural and technical reference point, as a golden opportunity that Europe cannot lose. Therefore, was asked to EUBC President, Franco Falcinelli, to achieve the structure and to find the resources to organise training courses, through sponsors, Olympic solidarity and other institutions.
The next EUBC EC Meeting will be held from April 18 to 20 in Belgrade, during the upcoming Belgrade Winner Tournament.
