The highlight of the week, the Boxam Youth & Junior Tournament opened with its Technical Meeting and Official Draw
23 November 2021The Spanish Boxing Federation’s next competition, the Boxam Youth & Junior Tournament will be held in Crevillent, Alicante region this week. The finals are scheduled this Saturday in the famous Costa Blanca region where the participants can enjoy the competition, the challenges and the nice local environment.
AIBA Executive Committee member and the President of the Spanish Boxing Federation, AIBA EC member Mr. Felipe Martinez welcomed all of the participating teams during this Covid-19 period and he underlined that he is grateful that 13 countries are able to attend despite of the circumstances.
The Technical Delegate of the Boxam Youth & Junior Tournament is Mrs. Susanne Karrlander of Sweden led the Technical Meeting at the Alannia Costa Blanca Resort. Following the Roll call, she introduced the competition rules, the schedule, the age groups, the AIBA disciplinary code, the Covid-19 safety measures and all necessary tournament details. The competition venue is in open place in Crevillent and there are all important parts in the same location and everything is within walking distance.
The following 13 nations are attending in the Boxam Youth & Junior Tournament: Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, EUBC Team, Finland, France, Italy, Latvia, Norway, Spain, Switzerland, Ukraine and Wales. Altogether 90 boxers could arrive to the competition and 64 bouts will be held in the upcoming days in 12 junior and 14 youth weight categories.
Boxers who were born in 2003 and in 2004 are eligible to attend in the youth part of the competition in Crevillent. The 2005 and 2006 born talents can attend in the junior age group in this international tournament. Following the Opening Ceremony of the Boxam Youth & Junior Tournament, thirteen contests are scheduled in the first day of boxing. One of the biggest names in the Boxam Youth & Junior Tournament is the defending EUBC European Youth Champion Rafael Lozano Serrano of Spain.
The safety of all participants, the continuous medical checks, the social distancing, the hygienic preparations, wearing masks and all of the health controls are the responsibility of the local organizers in Spain avoid any new Covid-19 cases during the new edition of the Boxam Youth & Junior Tournament.
