AIBA MEETING 2015

6 February 2015, Lausanne – Members of all 9 out of 11 AIBA Commissions convened for their 2015 meetings in Lausanne to discuss further development of our sport and the organization, AIBA.  The core purposes of this year’s commission meetings were;

  • Develop all follow up Implementation plan after a newly amended rules were released
  • How to develop more qualified officials to accommodate all competition progresses
  • Develop future generation transit plan for long term sustainability of our management
  • Enhancing WSB program
  • Supporting the successful launch of APB
  • Long-term strategy of Women Boxing development
  • Strengthening the AOB competition property

After each commission meeting, at the Joint Commissions Meeting, which took place on 4 February, nine of the 11 Commissions presented their recommendations for the development of various aspects of boxing.  The other two commissions, Ethics and Scientific Commissions will hold their meetings at a later stage.

“I am delighted to welcome all of the newly appointed Commissions Members and Chairpersons in Lausanne for their first meetings since all new commissions are formed after the 2014 AIBA Congress.  The AIBA competitions, as well as our organization as a whole, are going through many changes and we need to make sure that all these developments are fully integrated to the highest standards. I am confident that with the new Members joining and new appointed Chairpersons we will successfully achieve our goal,” said Dr Ching-Kuo Wu, AIBA President.

The Technical and Rules Commission and AIBA office will further review these recommendations and select the most appropriate recommendations and will present them to the AIBA EC Bureau for immediate implementations and/or for the approval by next July AIBA Executive Committee.
