Aiba 3-star coaches certification courses underway in Almaty, Kazakhstan.

In Almaty not only are the boxers displaying their abilities, the coaches are also being put to the test. During the World Championships from October 14 to18 and from 19 to 23, AIBA are hosting 3-Star Coaches’ Certification Courses to enhance the international development of this important area. Eighty eight coaches from all five continents are in attendance. They will have the opportunity to update their knowledge base and to test their prowess as they certify at AIBA’s highest coaching level.

These future 3-Star coaches are being evaluated by two AIBA Instructors, Adam Kusior from Poland (Chairman of the Coaches Commission) and Ervin Kade from Estonia. These instructors are assessing the theoretical and practical elements that are linked to coaching. The theoretical part touches on the AIBA rules and those concepts that are fundamental in coaching an elite boxer. The practical part is conducted in a gymnasium where the coaches are placed in a realistic environment and are required to prepare training sessions with a targeted theme.

These courses are essential in delivering important messages to the coaches that will directly affect the boxers. The aim is to continue to conduct these courses with the collaboration of National Federations, Continental Confederations and with the support of Olympic Solidarity.

The future is bright for these coaches and for any coach that  is fortunate enough be exposed to this new standard of coaching in the world of boxing.
