The 18-year-old Bulgarian is the top favourite for the gold medal at the light flyweight (49kg) in Botevgrad but his next opponent was a big task for him. Danila Skvortsov claimed silver medal in the 2018 Russian Junior National Championships and he had a brave attempt to beat Bulgaria’s youth No.1 in the Emil Jechev Memorial Tournament. Sabri turned up the heat from the second round and his energetic attacks delivered for him a close success over the one-year younger Russian boxer.

Surprises of the day

EUBC European Confederation Youth Boxing Championships bronze medallist Ibrahim Boukedim eliminated Russia’s Danil Urbanovich in the previous stage of the flyweight (52kg) and he was highly confident prior his next fight. The 18-year-old French boxer had to meet with Bulgaria’s two-time EUBC European Confederation Junior Boxing Championships silver medallist Yasen Radev once again. The French boxer defeated his Bulgarian opponent in the final of the Danas Pozniakas Youth Tournament a few weeks ago but this time Radev has done revenge due his previous loss.
