Chebotarev and Juratoni combine to create magnificence in Moscow

28 July 2015 News

Artem-CHEBOTAREV-RUS-vs-Bogdan-JURATONI-ROU-1800x900A loud crowd in Moscow, Russia celebrated one of the greatest matches in APB history as Artem Chebotarev (RUS) defeated Bogdan Juratoni (ROU) in a crucial AIBA Pro Boxing (APB) Middleweight (75 kg) Cycle I Round 1 clash.

Both athletes signified their intent from the opening seconds of the bout when they shared furious power shots in the middle of the ring.

With neither man taking a backwards step, defensive tactics were thrown out of the window as the two competitors focused exclusively on detonating devastating hooks and uppercuts.

Chebotarev impressed more in the first two rounds as several of his punches snapped the head back of his rugged opponent, while Juratoni rallied to claim the third round on a brace of scorecards.

The raucous Russian crowd was enjoying the action hugely, and they exploded in volume even further in the fourth round when Chebotarev reasserted his control of the bout.

Heading into round five, the home star was ahead on two scorecards, but lost the fifth frame after Juratoni’s phenomenal punch output began to make its mark.

The Russian changed his tactics in round six as he began to utilise more movement, and it proved to be a successful decision when he forced the 2011 AIBA World Championships bronze medalist onto the backfoot for the first time in the contest.

Round seven followed a similar pattern as the 2010 European Champion controlled the bout once again, before a spirited Juratoni produced yet another comeback to win the eighth and final round with considerable style.

It was not enough to claim the overall victory however, as Chebotarev secured a valuable unanimous decision triumph by scores of 77:75, 77:75 and 76:75.

Chebotarev’s win means he will now fight against Dmytro Mytrofanov (UKR), after he outperformed Michel Tavares (FRA) in Moscow.

The Ukrainian dominated the first six rounds of their contest with a strong attacking performance, and won by TKO when Tavares was unable to begin the seventh round.

Two further Middleweight bouts featured in Russia, beginning with Marlo Delgado (ECU) convincingly outpointing Nickson Abaka (KEN), before Xhek Paskali (GER) defeated Hosam Abdin (EGY).

Match results:

  • Nickson ABAKA (KEN) vs Marlo DELGADO (ECU) W.P. (73:79/73:79/72:78
  • Hosam ABDIN (EGY) vs Xhek PASKALI (GER) W.P. (76:76/75:77/74:78)
