#WSBV Day 5 – Classy Cuba Domadores win their fifth match in a row away to Mexico Guerreros16 February 2015
History was made after the first bout of Mexico Guerreros’ meeting with Cuba Domadores in the World Series of Boxing (WSB), as the Mexican Franchise became the first team this season to win a single match against the Season V Champions.
The Domadores shook off that result however, and went on to win the remaining four matches to maintain their undefeated record to the campaign and consign the Guerreros to their second successive defeat.
Mexico’s 2-0 Light flyweight (49 kg) Joselito Velázquez Altamirano opened the action with a points victory over Joahnys Oscar Argilagos Perez, whose WSB record drops to 2-1.
The Cuban comeback began at Bantamweight (56 kg) where Cuban debutant Andy Cruz Gomez comfortably defeated Brian González.
Two-time AIBA World Championships silver medalist and Olympic bronze medalist Yasniel Toledo then earned his third win of the season by winning every round against Raúl Curiel García who suffered his first WSB defeat in this match.
Cuban Middleweight (75 kg) Arlen Lopez secured the victory for his Franchise with a routine win over Misael Uriel Rodríguez Oliva.
Mexican Heavyweight (91 kg) Daniel Paniagua did not compete, which ensured a walkover win for Erislandy Savon whose WSB record improves to 11-0.
After this away win, next week Cuba Domadores host British Lionhearts in Havana, while Mexico Guerreros are at home to China Dragons.
